Games

Max the Sheriff is a central character in these 3 games created for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Used as a means to educate people in the Hamilton area about the dangers of the Gypsy Moths to vegetation. Each game heightens awareness about the pests, what could be done to protect against the spread of them, and what MAF was doing to combat the horrific moths.
A new game was released each week as part of an ongoing TV, Radio and online campaign. Learning through gaming was reinforced with online questionnaires which if correctly answered, could be used as an entry to a competition. Over 10 000 entries were recorded over the first month alone. Each game was challenging, fun and educational. The addictive nature of the games made both adults and children pass them along to others online. The intended “viral” effect made more people learn about the problem while having fun.
Zodal was responsible for all game coding, interactive elements and sound. We worked in with an advertising agency who provided the graphics and the general game concepts.
